Many people would like to start a blog but aren’t sure if they will make any money blogging.
We actually had the same question when we started blogging last year.
We saw other bloggers make thousands of dollars a month, and while we wanted to do the same, we weren’t sure if it was possible.
But guess what? We started our blog anyway.
And you know what happened, after much hard work and persistence? We now make tens of thousands of dollars a month from our personal finance blog.
It’s true. You can check out our latest income report by clicking here.
Our answer is an emphatic, “Yes!”
But you have to put in the work.
We have probably put in over 1,000 hours into our personal finance blog Money Done Right.

How Do Blogs Make Money?
There are three main ways that blogs make money. While there are other ways such as sponsored posts and getting leads for a service-based business, these are the three main ways.
(1) Ad Revenue
On our personal finance blog, you might have noticed ads for various companies in our articles as well as in our sidebar.
These are placed by the ad network we are a part of.
In return, we get paid a decent sum of money.
We make about $1,000 – $2,000 each month from these ads, as you can see in our latest income report.
Here is an example of an ad on our personal finance blog:
(2) Affiliate Revenue
You will also notice in certain articles that we link to other websites’ products or services.
These are called affiliate links.
We get a commission, or affiliate revenue, whenever a reader signs up or purchases one of those other websites’ products or services.
We make most of our income from affiliate revenue, as you can see in our latest income report.
You can see an example of some of our affiliate links in our article 7 Top Side Hustle Ideas.
I am an affiliate for every one of the companies on this list.
So when somebody clicks my link to one of these companies and signs up with them, I make a commission.
(3) Product Sales
Many blogs have their own line of products that they sell to their readers.
What’s the Easiest Way for New Blogs to Make Money?
To answer this question, I’m going to use process of elimination.
With ad revenue, you need TONS of traffic to your site before you start earning any decent money. This takes time.
With selling your own products, you will obviously need to develop your own product. This also takes a lot of time.
So that leaves us with affiliate revenue.
I firmly believe that the easiest way for new bloggers to make money is to create awesome content for their readers and place relevant affiliate links in that content.

So Is Blogging a Good Business to Start?
Typically, the greater the reward there is in something, the higher the risk and lower the chance there is in getting there.
But this risk-reward matrix is turned on its head when it comes to blogging. See, blogging has the potential for extremely high reward.
You can make thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars a month blogging.
And there is a very good chance you will earn money with blogging if you get your blog set up the right way (like we show you below) and commit to consistently writing quality blog posts (not one 50-word post every few months).
And blogging is extremely low-risk. Your out-of-pocket costs will typically be less than $10 a month. That’s it. That’s your total risk.
In fact, we can’t think of too many other businesses that offer this much potential for reward for expenses of less than $10 a month.
This is why we believe that blogging is such a good way to make money.
